Ministries

Somewhere for everyone in your house

A church is not a building or a service — it is people looking after one another and carrying the gospel out into the city. Here is what that looks like at El Vista through the week.

Sunday School

Sundays at 9:30 a.m. sharp

Graded classes from the nursery up — and three classes for adults.

Sunday School gives many people an opportunity to serve the Lord in teaching, visiting, praying, and encouraging one another. We have a graded program for the children beginning in the nurseries, and our teen department includes junior and senior high students.

Sunday School is not for children only. The College & Career Class is for post-high school and college young adults. The Faithful Class is for adult couples and singles of various ages. Young at Heart keeps spiritual fires burning in the lives of middle and senior adults.

Come and join us this Sunday morning at 9:30 sharp.

Nursery care

Sunday mornings

Safe, clean and well-staffed, during both Sunday School and worship.

Nursery care for infants, walkers and toddlers is provided during both the Sunday School and worship hours. Our nurseries are safe, clean and well-staffed, to give your little ones an environment of fun, song and Bible learning.

Music

Choir practice Sundays at 5:00 p.m.

A conservative style, a choir and an orchestra, and room to serve.

Our Music Director, Brother Phil Lancaster, oversees a musical ministry that has much to offer. A conservative style of music is used, and opportunities for service include the choir and the orchestra.

Children in grades 1 through 6 take part in the Patch the Pirate Club on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m., led by Mrs. Randi Lancaster.

Patch the Pirate Club

Wednesdays, 7:00 – 8:10 p.m.

Songs, Scripture and a good time for kindergarten through 6th grade.

Patch the Pirate Club meets Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:10 p.m. for children from kindergarten through 6th grade, led by Mrs. Randi Lancaster.

Youth & teen group

Sundays 9:30 a.m. & 4:30 p.m. · Wednesdays 7:00 p.m.

A full schedule of activities and spiritual training, all year.

The El Vista teens have a full schedule of fun activities and spiritual training. Led by Pastor Phil and Randi Lancaster, the teen group meets in Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., then has Teen Soul Winning at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday night Power Hour and prayer time start at 7:00 p.m.

We appreciate the time our workers give to the young people — teaching, visiting, planning, and hosting a number of activities every year. Our desire is to see young people come to know the Lord Jesus as Saviour; to walk with Him in daily life at home, school and neighbourhood; and to yield their lives to Him in following His will.

Pray for our teens, their parents, and our outreach to them.

Children's Church

Sunday mornings

Three age-sensitive groups during the morning service.

El Vista has been improving the Children's Church ministry over the past few years. It now consists of three groups during our morning service. Our skilful workers love the children and, on an age-sensitive basis, teach them the Word of God. Many have been won to Christ and lessons for Christian living have been taught.

Bus ministry

Sunday mornings

A ride to church, in some areas of Peoria, since 1965.

Bus transportation is available in some areas of Peoria. El Vista has been in the bus ministry since 1965. Hundreds of young people have been saved, and many have followed the Lord into His service.

Pray for the drivers, captains, helpers, riders and their families, that God will have His way in every life. Call the church office for more details about a stop near you.

Ministry to the deaf

Every service

Services interpreted, a weekly class, and activities through the year.

Services are interpreted for the hearing impaired. A Sunday School class is conducted weekly, and activities for the hearing impaired are held occasionally through the year.

Ministerio Hispano

Domingos 9:30 & 10:30 a.m.

Sunday School, morning and evening services, and midweek — in Spanish.

We have a Sunday School class at 9:30 a.m. and a morning service at 10:30 a.m. for our Spanish-speaking friends, led by Pastor Jorge Montoya and meeting in the Fireplace Room. There is also a 6:00 p.m. service on Sundays and a Wednesday evening Bible study and prayer meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Please pray for souls to be won to Christ.

Soul winning

Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.

Out into Peoria on Saturday mornings, and Sunday afternoons with the teens.

We go out into Peoria with the gospel on Saturday mornings at 10:00, and the teens go out at 4:30 on Sunday afternoons.

One of our men, Bro. Gail Adair, loves to witness and give out Bible tracts on the city bus, and would be glad to enlist you in a ministry of soul winning on public transit.

Everlasting Nation Fellowship

Fridays at 10:00 a.m.

A Friday morning fellowship centred on God's people Israel.

Everlasting Nation Fellowship meets on Friday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

CD ministry

Most services available on disc for a few months afterwards.

El Vista has been recording the services for many years. Though we do not maintain an archive for very long, through our CD ministry most services are available for a few months after the service. If you would like a CD of any service, contact the church office.

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Mark 16:15

Not sure where you would fit?

Call the office and ask. Somebody will talk it through with you, and if you need a ride, we will see whether a bus route runs near you.
